Starting a Christarchy! Group: A Basic Primer
The only centralized piece to Christarchy! is this website. Our hope is that you’ll experiment and find your own way to pursue Jesus’ radical path. So, while we want to avoid a cookie-cutter approach, we do think it is helpful to give some suggestions on how to get a group started. Below are some things that may help you get started.
1. You’ll need an organizer or two.
2. A few people (or more) to form a core.
3. In your first meeting, it may be good to share the basic idea of Christarchy! and come up with a list of future conversation topics. For a list of suggested topics, visit the topics area of the forum. You may also decide to do a book study for your group. Some groups may decide to simply follow the same topic schedule (which makes it easier to have inter-regional dialog). Whatever works best for your group.
4. You may want to set up a easy way of communicating to your members. This site allows you to add your own group page to help you with communications. Each group page lists members and has its own forums area. However, you may want to get your own group blog (see www.blogger.com for a free blog). To find others in your area with similar interests, www.meetup.com may be a good option (though they are fee-based). Facebook is also a great way to network and invite like-minded friends.
5. If you'd like help facilitating a group...or would like to kick-off your group by holding a larger-scale event, let me know. I'll help any way that I can. I'd even be willing to come help out, if I can find a way to pay for the trip.
