1. In general, a righteous life will have certain tendencies towards prosperity.
God want us to work hard. (Conversely, if we are lazy in our jobs, this is poor testimony).
God want us to work smart.
If a righteous person work hard + work smart, and avoid vices e.g. drinking, he will tend towards prosperity. This is what many verses in Proverbs teach.

Today on the way home from work I met Dave. Actually I drove by Dave who was sitting on the side of the road in front of Burger King. He held a sign that read "homeless". Jesus drove out the money changers by using a cord to scatter the animals that were being sold for sacrifice, and the people, who would exchange Roman money for Jewish money, hence: money changers.
Jesus also turned over the tables of the money changers, and that act showed the displeasure of Jesus Christ explained His actions when He said:

operating a "disaster control center"
from his throne of the universe
He is not trying to "pick up the pieces"
of a totally unexpected tragedy
that he never saw coming
He is not trying to "figure out" a way
to somehow to get things back
to being as good as they once were
