About Me:
i am not the ruler of my own destiny. i am a servant of the Ruler of all Destiny. He has given me the opportunity to live in a powerful and meaningful way. Yet, i stumble through this life clinging to Jesus’ hem, hardly realizing that i am actually safe in the palm of his hand. He has allowed me to be the dad to three wonderful children, the husband to an amazing wife, and a member of a local body of Jesus followers who encourage one another in the faith. I have been in lay ministry for almost my entire adult life. I rest solely on the knowledge that God is bigger than my weaknesses and failures. He is able to rescue me from my depravity. Somehow God will save me from me, provide for others through me, and unbelievably i am His best plan for somebody else.

Love of a Father

Today, Father’s Day 2008, started great. Wanda and the kids brought me breakfast in bed. Then we got ready for church: we donned our swimsuits, put our tee shirts and shorts over those, grabbed the cooler, chairs loaded the truck and went to worship with the part of the body of Christ known as The Church at Woodland. As a fellowship of believers on Father’s day each year rent out Taylor’s farm and have services by the lake around the pavilion. It is always a great time of learning, worship, food… Continue

everything drab and dull and common

This is where I find myself, it is not a bad thing or so I am told, it is just the way it is.

I have been reading a lot again, it is a good thing and it has been a while. Right know I am finishing up Faith Beyond Reason, A.W. Tozer, The Raggamuffing Gospel, Brennan Manning, The Love of God, Oswald Chambers, and City of Dreams, Stephen Lawhead.

All of the books have spoken to me in different ways and yet some how in ways that I need. One of those was a question that Chambers asks: “We can all d… Continue

Hey, Randy. Sorry for the late reply. I just found your comment!

Johnson City is great, although I don't know how it is now in comparison to when you were here. My wife and I love it here.

In Baltimore you'd be about 2 hours to a nice set of mountains. About 45 minutes to Appalacian trail. 2 1/2 hours to the ocean. And only seconds away from a gun fight. But you're probably used to that, being from Atlanta and all.

Georgia is cool. I dig Atlanta. Nifty place.

Not close enough to the ocean though. As a squid I might need to be the water in a moment's notice.
