Christarchy!

What is the story of Christarchy? We started Christarchy! to help people take the way of Jesus seriously. It is hard to do that alone. So we started a sort of support group to encourage one another. Sure, we were already doing that in our church (Missio Dei), but we wanted to have a group with people from other churches…and different backgrounds. After a while, other people wanted to start something similar, so we thought, “why not?” And so we revamped the Christarchy! website to allow for multiple groups and are now trying to help others start groups of their own.

Why do you call it Christarchy?
Basically, it is a made-up word that means “Christ rules.” The group is an exploration of living in radical allegiance to Christ. Plus the word is so over-the-top that it amuses us. Sometimes talking about deep issues can be a bit overwhelming. We wanted a name that made it hard to take ourselves too seriously.

What should we discuss at each of our Christarchy! gatherings? For ideas, explore the forums. Some groups may decide to read through the teachings of Jesus in one of the Gospels. Some may study books together. Some may just pick topics relevant for their group. We recommend that you spend your first meeting laying out a schedule for the following six months or so.

How often should we meet? As often as you like. We recommend at least once a month. If you have the time and ability to do it more often, go for it!

Should we make Christarchy! a ministry of our church, or should it be run independently? Each group needs to figure that out for themselves. There are benefits to learning from people from diverse backgrounds. However, if you are members of the same church, you are more likely to incorporate some of the issues discussed at your Christarchy! gathering.

What are your hopes for Christarchy? We’d like to see groups pop up everywhere. We get excited about people exploring the practical implications of the way of Jesus. We also like the notion that as Christarchy! groups draw people together, fledgling churches might emerge. It makes sense for some of the groups to be catalysts for churches and/or intentional communities.

Not just N. America! The evidence of our recent past GLOBALLY is that established political systems don't work - a more basic, ethically driven way of determining the future of the world - the real message of Jeshua - is the only way forward.
If a significant number of individuals live according to the spirit of the real message, the world will change.

You're right...I should change that to beyond North America.

this was well written. "No king but Christ, no Law but Logos.' i cannot say here where that quote comes from.

Free-thinker Christians have been discussed before...in other forums...(Forii? what is the plural of "forum"?) Understanding tricks played to decieve followers and dilute the teaching...that's happened...and often LATIN was the language of deception...
